Google first showcased their latest version of Android version 5.0 at its Google I/O developer event in June, and since then, developers and consumers have awaited the final version, which was finally goes official on couple of days back as Android 5.0 Lollipop. The company also launched the devices running this latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, namely the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. Also according to Google the other Nexus devices will be the next to get the update but there is no certain date has been revealed regarding this.
Every time Android update comes with some cool new features to excite users to grab the updated one but this time Android Lollipop comes with more than we were expecting.
Here we have listed almost all known features and upgrades offered with Android Lollipop to get the complete idea why to wait for this update to get in your device. Checkout them:
Material Design
The coolest feature is Material design. Frankly I don’t have much idea about what exactly the material design is but one thing I can say that the the UI is totally different and flat compared to Android Kitkat. Well, here it is. Android 5.0 Lollipop features a cleaner, flatter design with a more fluid interface and animations. See the video below to get better idea:
Google explains the newer Material design introduction to this version of Android as “A bold, colorful, and responsive UI design for consistent, intuitive experiences across all your devices. Responsive, realistic lighting and shadows, natural motion, and familiar visual elements make it easier to navigate your device.
Improved Notifications/Do Not Disturb
Android 5.0 Lollipop’s lock screen displays richer notifications, and users can view and respond to messages directly from the lock screen. In fact, Google has further gone ahead with notifications and added rich floating descriptive notifications on top of your activity. Users will be able to view or remove any notifications without moving away from an activity.
Android Lollipop users can also turn on ‘Priority mode‘ via the device’s volume button and allow notifications from only certain people or apps to be shown – users can now even schedule when Priority mode turns on as well.
Also one great thing added under this category is now users can choose to answer the call, cancel it, or just continue to do what they were doing without waiting for the call to end.
Improved Security
Google also says that new devices come with encryption automatically turned on to help protect data on lost or stolen devices. Google had announced the feature last month, after Apple revealed its own version.
Users will also get an Android Smart Lock feature to secure their device by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or even their car, says Google.
Now if you think these highlighted features are worth to have in your device, just wait for the update to go official. Mostly high end devices are expected to get the update first followed by the lower one. But Motorola on this has taken different route and announced that within weeks all Moto( Moto G/G 2nd Gen, Moto X/X 2014, Moto Droid and more) users will be able to update their device to Lollipop version.
